East Canton athletes garner IVC awards

The Inter-Valley Conference distributed a number of postseason awards to East Canton spring sports athletes.

Several members of the East Canton boys track team, who won received All-IVC honors for their performance at the conference meet. The Hornets won the conference meet this year.

Josh Conrad received first-team honors in the high jump, 1,600-meter and 800-meter run as well as the 1,600-meter relay. Zach McClaskey was named first team All-IVC for his top performances in the 110-meter high hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, the 800-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay.

Cody Vacco, Mitch Mitchell and Wyatt Deutschman also garnered first team honors in the 800-meter relay. Kyreem-Newell-Owens and James McCullough were additionally named first team All-IVC in the 1,600 meter relay.

Dautschman was also second-team all conference in the 100-meter dash. He joined Tariq Hmidan, Evan Mayle and Alex Donaldson for second-team honors in the 400-meter relay.

Mitchell received second team honors in the long jump and 200-meter dash. Newell-Owens along with McCullough, Tony Cappillo and Colt Hemphill were named second-team all conference in the 3,200-meter relay.

In baseball, second team All-IVC honors went to Jonah Haas. Brandon Clapper was named All-IVC honorable mention.

In softball, Katelyn Kennedy and Lexi Betz received second team honors, and Zoe Salyers garnered an honorable mention conference award.
