Watch your step this First Friday, as July 3rd's event in the Canton Arts District is underfoot and under construction. Chalk the Walk, from 6-10 p.m., features the temporary creations of 16 people who actually enjoy getting their hands - and their knees - more than a bit dirty.
It will be an evening of fun for all as Music in the Park starts Monday, July 6, at the Magnolia Village Park. Headlining the evening of Folk Music are the Snyders, the husband/wife combo who sing songs from mostly the '50s and the '60s.
Magnolia residents enjoyed one final night of entertainment and music this week. The last Monday Night Music in the Park was held at the Magnolia Village Park on July 28 featuring a "Music by the Youth" Night.
The Canton Players Guild will host a youth theater workshops featuring songs from Broadway shows. Children will explore staging, make-up and costuming as they have a hand in writing and creating their own variety show.

The Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a bus trip to Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh. This trip was originally slated for May 3 but has been moved to Saturday, May 10. Organizers of the trip are still looking for riders.The bus is to leave at 9:30 a.m.
The Foltz Community Center in East Canton will host a "Tribute to Old Blue Eyes" dinner show on Frday, Feb. 14.Doors open at 6 p.m. A social hour will be held from 6-7 p.m. Dinner is served at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m.
To celebrate the 80th anniversary of Sam Stone's anonymous Christmas gifts to 150 local families in 1933, The McKinley Museum's Keller Gallery will have a special exhibition highlighting many of the stories shared in Ted Gup's book "A Secret Gift.
Star Watch and Planetarium Show-- Friday, Dec. 6, 8 p.m.Join The Wilderness Center's Astronomy Club for a Planetarium Show; then view the real things through telescopes. The event is free and for all ages. Green Your Home for the Holidays-- Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m.
A bus trip from the East Sparta area to Pittsburgh has been scheduled for Nov. 24. Riders will be able to make stops in the city at the Three Rivers Casino or the Robinson Mall.They will also be able to see festive holiday lights in Clinton. The cost is $35.
There is little mystery about the Foltz Community Center itself in East Canton. But those who attend an event at the community center this weekend will have something to solve. The center is set to host a Mystery Dinner Theater as a fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 2.

On Sept. 28, three area churches held family fun events to celebrate the coming of fall. Peace Lutheran, Otterbein United Methodist and Indian Run Christian churches each celebrated the bright and sunny weather in their own family friendly way.
The following fall events are planned in the area: Sandy Valley Community Park will have its annual Boo in the Park on Saturday, Oct. 12. Those attending are asked to bring a canned grocery item. Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church will hold its Fall Festival on Sunday, Oct.
MAPS Air Museum will hold its Air Academy 2013 "The Miracle of Flight" on 10 consecutive Saturday morning sessions starting Sept. 14 and running to Nov. 16. The classes run from 9 a.m. to noon. Three class sessions will be held each Saturday.The academy is limited to 24 students.
The Louisville Area YMCA will offer a seven-week Duct Tape Creations Art Class starting Sept. 9. The class is for boys and girls grades 2-5 held on Mondays from 4-5 p.m. Students will make fun crafts like belts, flower pens, wallets, purses, frames, key chains, hair accessories, and more.
Artsinstark First Friday presents Tackling the Arts, Friday, Aug 2, 6-10 p.m. in the Canton Arts District.
The Knights of Columbus' cruise in was held Sunday, July 21, at St. James Church in Waynesburg.
MAPS Air Museum will welcome the Collings Foundation's "Wings of Freedom Tour" Saturday, Aug. 10 and Sunday, Aug. 11. WWII bombers available for touring will be a B-24 Liberator and a B-17 Flying Fortress, as well as a P-51 Mustang fighter. Adults are $12 and $6 for children 6-12 years old.
Monday Night Music in the Park completes its season in Magnolia on July 29 at the park bandstand with youth night.The music will start at 7 p.m. An eat stand will be open with hot dogs, coneys, cookies and beverages.The event is sponsored by the Magnolia Area Historical Society.

A postcard show will be held Saturday, July 27 at Wallick's Auction Center in Strasburg from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and admission is $2.The facility is handicapped accessible and there will be food and drinks on the premises. There will be 12 dealers buying and selling postcards and paper.
