On Tuesday, Jan. 10, Canton Local School District held the third master facilities building community meeting in the high school cafeteria.
About 200 community members attended to share in the unveiling of the video to promote the building and campaign plan. The video is posted on the district web site, www.cantonlocal.org.
The goal is to create a two-campus district with an elementary school being built behind Faircrest Memorial Middle School and the middle school renovated to become an elementary. A new high school will be built along Cleveland Avenue near the current facility.
Sandy Manges, Realtor and John Mariol Jr. spoke at the meeting.
Superintendent Kim Redmond asked for suggestions of how to promote the bond issue. Those comments are posted on the web site as well as all handouts from the meeting. Forms for convenient absentee voting are also posted on our web site.
"The community continues to shape the direction of the facility plan. Together we have created a vision for the future for the Canton Local community," said Redmond. "This is a vote for the future of the Canton Local community not just a vote for Canton Local Schools."
Redmond is having a Community Chat at McCalls Restaurant and Banquet Center on Monday, Jan. 30, from 7-8 p.m. in the banquet room. Community members with questions are welcome to attend.
