MAGNOLIA -- This year's Sandy & Beaver Canal Days will be held Aug. 7-9.

This will be the 29th year for the fun event, which takes visitors to the village back to the good old days of canal boats, horses and carriages, as well as long dresses and bonnets for the women and vest and bowties for the men.

On Friday, Aug. 7, the Miss Canal Days pageant will be held at the festival grounds. Ribs and other delicious food items will also be available that evening, as well as games, crafts, entertainment and more.

The annual foot race will be held on Saturday morning, Aug. 8, at Magnolia Elementary School. Trinity Lutheran Church will once again have its pancake breakfast at the church.

On Sunday, Aug. 9, the parade will be held at 2 p.m. A car show is also planned that day.

Events scheduled throughout the weekend will include a fishing rodeo, a children's parade, a pie-baking contest, citizen of the year honors, a lawn-decorating contest, entertainment, hayrides, a country store, crafts, lots of good food and historical displays by the Magnolia Area Historical Society and others.

Watch The Press-News' Sandy & Beaver Canal Days special issue coming out just before the event, with all the details, schedules, new additions-- as well as-- interesting historical facts about the area.
