Lauren's middle name is from her great-great grandmother, Josephine Delgado, who is of Spanish decent. (I think Lauren is going to get lots of loving.)

* Come to the Foltz Center on Friday, Jan. 16, from 8-11 p.m. for a county-western dance. Cathy Kaufman will be the DJ. On Mondays, come out and join in on line dancing. For more information, call Cathy at 330-455-2549.
* Seniors, come out to the Foltz Center and exercise with your peers. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9-10 a.m.The second Wednesday of each month, there is no exercise, due to the senior social.
*Come out and join your friends at the senior social at the Foltz Center on Wednesday, Jan. 14. The program starts at 10:30 a.m., with Lori Noebe of Sarah Care Adult Day Care Center. Llunch will includes Chicken Cordon Bleu, rice, vegetable and applesauce. Please make reservations one week prior by calling 330-488-6500.
* The Foltz Community Center looking for volunteers to help out on weekend functions. The volunteers would be center representatives, and their responsibilities would include opening and securing the building after an event and being on hand to help with any concerns needed throughout the event. A training class will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 10:15 a.m.
* The Foltz Community Center Membership Drive is under way. Become a member and receive multiple free faxes and copies throughout the year, one free use of the electronic sign and a discount on room rental. See Mary Sanders at the center's office to sign up.
* Book Discussion for adults at the East Canton Library will be on Tuesday, Jan.13. The book will be "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen. Discussion leader will be Susan Huston.
* The East Canton AARP will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 20, and lunch will be meatloaf, mashed potatoes, vegetable and applesauce. Donna Wells will have a demonstration of Stanley Products at the meeting. New members are always welcome.

* Sandy Valley Alumni will hold its monthly meeting in the library of the old Sandy Valley High Schoo at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12.
* A benefit show will be held at the Church of the Open Door in Sandyville on Jan. 14. Some of the featured artists are Sandy Valley's own Forgetfull Summer and alumni Dan Blackwell. The show is free, but would be appreciated if donations were made. All donations will go to charity and the church. All artists are performing acoustic sets.
* Congratulations to Alexis Crone who was recently named champion of the Sandy Valley Elementary Spelling Bee.
* The 2008 Cy Young Banquet and Hall of Fame Induction was held Nov. 2 in New Philadelphia. The scholarship winners were Mike Tozzi of Sandy Valley, Drew Dunn of Claymont and Matt Rowland of New Philadelphia. The featured speaker for the event was former professional player John Massarelli.

* On Dec. 23, Jacob Walker celebrated his 6th birthday. Happy belated birthday, Jacob!

* Over the weekend I (Pamela) and my daughter, Maria, had the privilege of traveling with the East Canton High School choirs to Disney World in Orlando. The students were all so respectful and kind, and I am glad I took the opportunity to spend time with them and hear the choir sing. Thank you, Mrs. Moody and choir students for all the fun memories!
* The youth of Little Country Church spent new year's eve at the East Sparta Bowling Alley. Twenty-five students and adults attended to ring in the new year with good food, fellowship and devotions. Chaperones who took the time to be with the youth were Mary and Larry Bonam; Bill, Deana and Jessie Carter; Doug Diehl and Ed Ellington. LCC Youth Group meets every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the church fellowship hall.
