On Wednesday, May 14, several classes of fourth grade students assembled in the Walker Elementary home room of Miss Anne Bowman for an afternoon visit with Mrs. Ryan Cook's brother, Matthew Skipper.
Matt is a 1999 graduate of Canton South High School and a 2003 graduate of Grove City College. Home for a break between his schooling and a summer internship, he was invited to visit his former school where his sister, Linnea Cook is now a fourth-grade math teacher.
Having worked on Capitol Hill for three years and now attending the University of Maryland Law School, he had lots of interesting experiences to draw from. Skipper recently visited India and shared pictures reflecting that culture. His in-laws were born and raised in India.
The students had lots of questions including a request for his favorite classes and teachers when he was a Walker student. The difference between Native Americans and people from India was among many other topics inquired about.
The youngsters learned about the branches of American government and the Taj Mahal all in one sitting and had an enjoyable time doing it.
