Jann Coates of the Sandy Valley area, one of The Press-News photographers, had her photo taken with the hometown paper while on vacation at Short Sands Beach in York, Maine. Jann took the trip with her sister-in-law, Allyson Ridenbaugh of Canton South. They traveled to New York to visit Douglas Coates (Allyson’s brother and Jann’s brother -in-law). Jann and Allyson then jumped on a plane and flew to Florida to visit Jann’s family in that part of the country. They then flew back to New York and drove to New Hampshire to visit Jann’s dad, Charles Tiberghein (also a subscriber to the paper) and other family members in New Hampshire. Jann said the trip was great, but she did get the paper wet while trying to read in the ocean.

This was the fifth cruise for Judy and third for Debbie. Shows onboard this cruise, they said, were incredible, and it was great fun meeting the singers and dancers on the back stage tour.

Karin and Jerry Priest vacationed on Tybee Island, Ga., on the coast of Savannah from Aug. 16-23, this year.
“Unfortunately, we had to deal with the after-effects of Tropical Storm Fay,” Karin said, “but it was still a fun week!”
While trying to watch the water on the Savannah River, outside of their condo, Karin said they attempted to “read” their latest Press-News. “As the photo shows, the wind would only allow us to hold the paper up against us and hand on to it for dear life,” said Karin. “The wind and rain kept us from the beach on most days, but we were able to take a few walks and create some very special memories. We had one beautiful sunny day during our week when we rented scooters and explored the island for most of the day. We climbed to the top of the Tybee Island Lighthouse and experienced some awesome sights of the island as well as cargo ships and wind.”
The Priests had a friend from Gallivants Ferry, S.C., Susan Edwards, stay with them for part of the week, thus enabling them to get the photo taken.
Karin and Jerry are pictured standing on the walk-way overlooking the Savannah River, at Savannah Beach and Racquet Club, on Tybee Island, Ga.
