CANTON -- The Malone University Department of Theatre will stage Oscar Wilde's classic, "The Importance of Being Earnest," Tuesday, March 23, through Saturday, March 27, in the Performing Arts Hall of Founders Hall on the Canton campus.

Tickets are $6 for Tuesday through Thursday performances, and $8 for Friday and Saturday performances and can be ordered by calling the box office at 330-471-8202. Malone University students are $2 for all performances. Curtain is at 8 p.m.

Billed as a trivial comedy for serious people, "The Importance of Being Earnest" centers on the social elite and their trials and tribulations of love. Imagine finding the girl of your dreams only to be informed that she has already engaged you, broken off the engagement, and then re-engaged you before the first date! Directed by senior, Rachael Goddard of Haddonfield, New Jersey, this madcap romp through the English countryside will have you laughing throughout the evening.

Malone University, a Christian university for the arts, sciences, and professions in the liberal arts tradition, is affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church. The school awards both undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 100 academic programs.
