Sandy Valley wrestlers defeat Garaway and TCC, improve to 19-5

The Sandy Valley wrestling team defeated both opponents in their latest tri-match.

The Cardinal wrestlers defeated Garaway by the score of 45-21, and then defeated Tusky Central Catholic by a 60-9 score.

Winning wrestlers for the Cardinals against Garaway were 140-Billy Natale by pin in 2:52, 152-Zak Monte by a 7-2 score, 160-Parker Cole by a 2-0 score, 171-Sam Groff by a pin in 2:13, 215-Jordan Kirkman by the score of 3-0, 103-Luke Lehmiller by forfeit, 112-Eric Cassidy by forfeit, 119-Eric Carbenia by a 12-10 score, 125-Dustin Baum by a 2-0 score and 135-Dutch Kirkman by pin in 5:19.

Those wrestlers winning for Sandy Valley were 152-Monte by pin in 2:42, 160-Cole by forfeit, 171-Groff by pin in 1:50, 189-J. Kirkman by forfeit, 103-Lehmiller by forfeit, 112-Cassidy by forfeit, 119-Carbenia by forfeit, 125-Baum by an 11-4 score, 130-D. Kirkman by forfeit, 135-Andrew Lidderdale by the score of 8-1 and 140-Natale by pin in 2:52.

Those wrestlers who were double winners for the Cardinals are 103-Lehmiller, 112-Cassidy, 119-Carbenia, 125-Baum, 130/135-D. Kirkman, 140-Natale by two pins, 152-Monte, 160-Cole, 171-Groff by two pins and 189/215 J. Kirkman.

With the two wins, Sandy Valley improves to 19-5 on the year.

Next up for the Cardinals is an away tri-match with Timken and Dalton. That match will have taken place by press time. The Cardinals will then travel to Massillon for an invitational on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m.
