East Sparta residents cast in The Players Guild Theatre's 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof'January 20, 2010
CANTON, OH- Carrie Alexander Spina, of East Sparta, will play the part of Big Mamma in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," the Tennessee William's classic, coming to the Canton Player's Guild Theater Jan. 29 through Feb. 7. This is a story of greed and deception within a patriarchal southern family. The plot focuses on the turbulent relationship of a wife, Maggie "The Cat", and her husband, Brick Pollitt, and their interaction with Brick's family over the course of an evening gathering at the family estate. The second offering in the Stripped Away Series, staged in the William G. Fry Theatre, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" offers a gritty dissection of the dysfunctional American family. No frills...just drama. Curtain times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday matinees are at 2:30 p.m. The $10 general admission tickets are on sale now at the Players Guild Theatre box office at 330-453-7617 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, online 24 hours a day at www.playersguildtheatre. com/online_box_office.php, or at the door one hour prior to curtain time. Other cast members from the area are Tiffani Hilton of Canton as Maggie, Aaron Brown of Canton as Brick, Christopher Gales of Massillon as Big Daddy, Daryl Robinson of Massillon as Gooper, Jennifer Davies of Canton as Mae, John Scavelli of Canton as Doctor Baugh and Michael Laymon of Hartville as Reverend Tooker The Players Guild Theatre, currently celebrating its 78th season, is a volunteer-based, professionally directed theatre. The Players Guild Theatre also exists to offer instruction in theatre arts through production experience, classes, workshops, special programming and outreach activities. At The Players Guild Theatre, volunteers work side by side with professionals in order to maintain the highest standards of production, encourage individual creativity, and enhance the understanding and appreciation of live theatre.
