The Press-News

Anthony's Feed and Supply takes pride in knowing and meeting the animal feed needs of the community. This has always been a productive business, but now under the new ownership of Rick Anthony, there is even more diversity and quality.

In the span of a week Anthony became a business owner and, for the second time, a father-in-law. On Oct. 26, he found himself at the helm of what had been Halter Feed and Grain, and then, on the following Saturday, he gave the hand of Mandi, his 23-year-old daughter, in marriage to Justin Hamilton. What a month for the Anthony family!

Rick, an East Canton High School graduate and his wife, Jackie, have been married 28 years. He had 12 years of experience working with Ken Halter before making the decision to take over the business last month. Although Jackie does not currently work at the new family business, she is very familiar with it, having worked there previously for eight years.

Despite the empty nest, there is no time for boredom at the Anthony household. The family keeps busy as they farm 500 acres along with running their new business.

Anthony's Feed and Supply is located at 11501 Baywood St. in Robertsville. It is across from Whispering Pines Pond, near the rail road tracks off of Robertsville Road, one block south of Route 30.

Horse, swine, cattle and poultry feed are available as well as cat and dog food. Some of the brands they carry are Buckeye and Kalmbach. Anthony and his staff will be glad to custom grind a feed for your animal to your specifications.

Wild animal products are available. Bags of corn on the ear for squirrels is a big seller with 250 tons being sold through this business last year, most of which was wholesale. A variety of deer feed and bird seed can be purchased at Anthony's.

In the spring, check out the fertilizers as well as garden and seed supplies. Among the other miscellaneous items sold are Tingley boots, splash boots, water conditioner salt, rodentcide, salt bricks and dried pig ears.

There are four other employees at Anthony Feed and Supply. Tim Anthony is the 25-year-old son of the new owners. He and his wife, Lisa, live on the family farm, on the north side of Route 30. Cathy Miller, a seven year employee, is from Minerva. Jake Bossler has been with the company for three years and is an East Canton High School graduate. Allen Foster is 22 years old and is from Minerva. He has worked at the store for two years.

Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
