A poker run will be held on Aug. 15 to raise funds for 2004 Sandy Valley graduate Bill Tweedy. In November of 2008, 23 year old Bill was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer called Antiplastic Astrocytoma. A large tumor was removed from his brain stem which left him severely weakened on his left side. He lived for playing guitar and singing until cancer took that away from him. He also loved to ride four wheelers and race at the Malvern race track. The tumor has returned and he is now facing aggressive chemotherapy which will make him very ill.
The cost to ride will be $25 per driver and $10 per passenger. Food will be provided for all paid riders. First bikes out will be at 11 a.m., bikes back by 6 p.m. Cars are welcome. The route stops will be Prestiers Lounge, Tim’s Westside Tavern, Minerva Eagles, Harvest Inn and Elms Inn. Maps will be available. Rain out date will be Aug. 16
Raffles, door prizes, 50/50 and best hand will be awarded. Contact Jon Richards at 330-205-2511 for more information.
A fund has also been setup at First Merit Bank so that his family can continue to care for him at home. Donations can be made under the name William (Bill) Tweedy at any First Merit Bank.
