The East Sparta Homecoming will be held July 4-6 at East Sparta Village Park, located at the intersection of Pine and Chestnut streets. Many activities are planned, including a parade and fireworks on the Fourth of July.

Honor citizens this year will be the East Sparta Persons of the Year Joel Black and Paul "Red" Williams and Lifetime Achievement Award winners Harold Fry and John Cable. They will receive plaques and be included in the parade on July 4. The parade will begin at 7 p.m. and fireworks will be held at 10.

Rides, food, games, raffles and many other activities will take place during the homecoming. Tickets for ride wrist bands are available at Sandy Valley Community Pool or McDade's Grocery Store in East Sparta. Ride tickets are $8 in advance or $12 at the homecoming. Tickets will be redeemable at the ticket booth at the homecoming for a wrist band which will allow rides for the entire evening.

Other events will include a car, truck and motorcycle show on Saturday, with registration beginning at 4 p.m. and the show at 5. DeLuca from Q-92 FM will be on stage at 8 p.m.

On Sunday, a community worship service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the park. A flag disposal ceremony will follow. If it rains, the services will be in the East Sparta Community Building.

A cornhole tournament will be held on Sunday. Registration will start at 1 p.m. and the game will begin at 2 p.m. Cash rewards will be given, and the cost to register a team of two is $15.
