After receiving $200 from a Learn and Serve grant, Mrs. Erika Karovic's 7th-grade language arts students raised additional money to purchase ingredients and then to prepare meals for Canton Local senior citizens.

The students practiced their business letter writing skills and wrote to area business and community members for donations.

They also had a bake sale to raise money. The total amount of money raised was over $500. This was enough money to make 120 meals for 20 senior citizens. Each senior received six meals.

The students, along with Jeff Franks of North Industry Christian Church, delivered the meals to the senior citizens, when the students also were able to visit them.
