Gas prices are high and gas tanks are low. The American Red Cross is here to help though...let them fill your tank!
The Northern Ohio Blood Services Region is offering the chance to win "Free Gas For a Year" this summer. From now through Sept. 1, all those who come to donate blood or platelets will automatically be entered in a raffle to win free gas for a year (a $3,000 value) and five additional winners will each receive a $500 gas card!
"When the warmer months arrive, donating blood often takes a back seat to other summer activities. This time of year less people are donating blood, which creates a critical challenge for the American Red Cross. By offering an incentive that we know people need, we hope more blood and platelet donors who can find the time to give will do so this summer and help avoid a shortage in our community," says Victoria Rothacker, regional communications leader for the American Red Cross.
Donations of all blood types are needed now and throughout the coming months, and the Red Cross is asking all who can donate blood or platelets, to do so this summer. Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and provide a Red Cross donor card or a valid state photo ID. Donors may give whole blood every 56 days.
