New officers elected for the next two years are Lisa Gronow, president; Patty Larkins and Debbie Wissuchek, co-vice presidents; Yvonne Schaffer, secretary; Nancy Eckinger, treasurer, and the nominating consists of Jo Brewster and Helen Trompower. Installation of officers will be held at the May meeting on May 20. * The Jolly Eights Card Club met on April 9 with Martha Patterson serving as the hostess. Winners were Dorothy Mattevi, Eileen, Janet Vance and Gloria Stark. The next meeting of the group will be on May 14 with Lil Heilman serving as the hostess. Deadline is June 16. * Senior Flex group is growing. The average attendance is 25 and they hope you will join them on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9-10 a.m. at the Foltz Center. If you don't have weights and mats there are extra on hand to use until you can get some. The classes are free and it helps keep you young. * Alumni and friends of Osnaburg Schools Foundation held its 2008 annual meeting on Dec. 20. The board of trustees were elected. Julie Conrad, Jewell (Douglas) Griffing and Jim Kandel were re-elected for three-year terms. Jane (Fisher) Kochis was elected to replaced Walt Walker, who resigned due to health concerns. The following were elected as officers: president, Jill Van Voohis; vice president, Julie Conrad; secretary, Kacy Carter; and treasurer, Jim Smith. * East Canton Walking Club will start walking on Tuesday, May 13, from 7-8 p.m. at the village park on North Werley. Then it was on to Berlin, where they toured the Berlin Craft Mall, which is a part of Schrock's Amish Farm and Village. Jeff Snyder and Pete Salom picked up gifts for family members. For lunch, the trio dined at Cindy's Diner, also located in Berlin. To finish their afternoon of enjoying their retirement, they headed to Charm, for a visit to Keim Lumber & Hardware. Due to their age and all the walking required, the "Boys" decided on visiting the Carpenter's Cafe, which is on the second floor of Keim's, for milkshakes and iced tea and a chance to rest their weary legs.
