Gertrude I. Thiessen Gertrude I. Thiessen, age 82, of Magnolia, passed away Monday evening in Affinity Medical Center, Massillon Campus. She was born in Fresno, Ohio, a daughter of the late Arthur and Celena (Marhofer) Maurer, and she had been a Magnolia resident since 1963. She was a 1943 graduate of Lehman High School. Gertrude retired in 1990 from American Electric Power, after 10 years service, where she was a data processor. Previously she had worked at the Stark County Prosecutors Office. She has also worked as a cashier at Cibo's Restaurant for 16 years where she was known as "Grams." Gertrude was a member of Canton Moose Lodge 233 and had been a volunteer in the emergency room at Mercy Medical Center for a number of years. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Chester Maurer. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Glen Stark and Vicki Martin, and a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Marie Thiessen, all of Magnolia; seven grandchildren, Monday and Leah Stark, Laurie and Jim Fragasse, Jennifer and Mike Mitchell, Julie and Tavis Adams, Bob Martin, Melissa and Dan O'Connell, and Ricky Thiessen; eight great-grandchildren, Cody, Ashlyn and Peyton Stark, Kaili and Kyle Mitchell, Isabella Adams and Chase and Irelyn O'Connell. Services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Steven M. Smith officiating. Interment in Renners Church Cemetery at Fresno, Ohio.
