Lady Hornets sweep Heartland Christian

The Lady Hornets started a busy week on the volleyball court with a 25-21, 25-19, 27-25 win over Heartland Christian.

Maggie Geis had nine kills, nine digs and eight receptions; Natalie Spitale had 17 kills, nine points, 11 digs and seven receptions; Trustyn Holland-Kerekes had 14 digs and 13 receptions; Kylee Holland had 13 points and nine kills; Audri Nichols had 34 assists and eight points; Addison Loy had seven points; and Laurelyn Schmidt had four blocks.

East Canton dropped a 25-15, 25-15, 25-14 decision to Ridgewood.

Spitale had nine kills, three blocks, five points and nine digs; Holland had five kills; Schmidt had four blocks; Nichols had 17 assists; Geis had four kills, three blocks, 12 digs and 15 receptions; and Holland-Kerekes had 14 digs and 21 receptions.

The Lady Hornets were to battle Garaway on Oct. 10 and Malvern on Oct. 11, before closing out the season hosting Strasburg on Oct. 13.

East Canton will open up the Division IV Northeast District tournament taking on either Berlin Center or Sebring McKinley on Oct. 20, 5:30 p.m. at Columbiana High School.
