Cardinals take part in Stark County Championships

Sandy Valley competed at the Stark County Cross Country Championships this past Saturday morning.

Chloe Thomas led the Lady Cardinals as she finished 32nd in Division II-III with a time of 22:06.

Kiannah Sarver was 33rd in 22:16.5, Mercedes Sarver was 37th in 22:42, Alex Howell was 38th in 22:46.1, and Maggie Lampe was 68th in 30:39.

St. Thomas won the Division II-III title with 46 points, edging Marlington (48) by two.

Minerva was next with 71, followed by Fairless with 96, Tuslaw with 102, Canton Central with 152, East Canton with 174, Sandy Valley with 195 and Northwest with 272.

Boys Cross Country

Aleks Rymer was 26th in 18:27.4, Dean Freitag was 39th in 19:23.6, Michael Lewton was 40th in 19:25, Nash Monroe was 47th in 19:51.8, Isaac Knight was 56th in 20:42.3, Bronson Frank was 60th in 20:54, and Jeffrey Edwards was 75th in 23:06.

St. Thomas won the small-school race with 37 points. It was followed by Tuslaw with 39, East Canton with 128, Minerva with 144, Canton Central with 154, Marlington with 156, Fairless with 186, Sandy Valley with 208, Alliance with 216, Northwest with 233, Canton South with 262 and Lake Center with 329.

The Cardinals will compete in the Inter-Valley Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 15.
