Sandy Valley hosted a cross country invitational this past Saturday, with both teams finishing third in their respective races.
Aleks Rymer led the boys as he placed eighth with a time of 17:58.
Michael Lewton was 14th in 18:35.73, Dean Freitag was 21st in 19:18.65, Isaac Knight was 27th in 19:32.24, Nash Monroe was 28th in 19:36.94, Jeffrey Edwards was 30th in 19:59.93, Austin Owens was 43rd in 21:16.39, Nick Cappillo was 47th in 21:30.14, and Ben Cappillo was 63rd in 37:22.5.
East Canton won the boys race with 63 points. It was followed by Western Reserve Academy with 69, Newcomerstown with 87, Sandy Valley with 93, Fairless with 93, Dalton with 142, Hiland with 164 and Ridgewood with 172.
Girls Cross Country
Kiannah Sarver led the Lady Cardinals as she finished sixth with a time of 21:32.71.
Mercedes Sarver was 10th in 22:02.01, Chloe Thomas was 11th in 22:04.67, Alex Howell was 17th in 22:50.36, Ruby Behm was 25th in 23:50.21, Emily Miller was 33rd in 25:03.69, and Natalie Weber was 40th in 26:06.43.
Fairless won the girls race with 19 points. It was followed by Dalton with 50, Sandy Valley with 64, Western Reserve Academy with 108, East Canton with 139 and Malvern with 161.
The Cardinals will compete in the Stark County Championships this Saturday, Oct. 1.
