Sandy Valley played well on the pitch last week, going 2-1 in girls soccer.
The Lady Cardinals beat Dover 2-0. Mandi Williams had a goal and an assist, Halie Sciury found the back of the net, and Bella Wodin recorded an assist.
The girls had little trouble with Ridgewood, winning by a score of 8-1. Sciury had four goals and three assists, L. Woodin had a goal and an assist; Williams and Megan Hughes each scored; and Olivia Karam had two assists.
The busy week concluded with a 7-1 loss to Carrollton. Sciury had the lone goal for Sandy Valley.
"The team was really looking forward to finishing the week with all three wins, but we were 2-1 and we will take that any day," noted Head Coach Victor Morales. "The whole team is playing well and they know that the future looks bright and the sky is the limit for them.
"Halie Sciury has really stepped up this season with 17 goals, as well as Megan Hughes with five goals, not to mention Mandi Williams, Rachel Fleischman, Brooke McCoy, Lexi and Bella Woodin, Lanie Kirkpatrick, Holly Williams that have also found the back of the net.
"The entire team knows that it's not about how many goals you score, but how well you play as a team. Soccer is played 11 versus 11 and the girls know it, so they step on the field as a team and they play like one."
The Lady Cardinals were to battle Garfield on Sept. 27, before hosting Hiland today (Sept. 29). The girls will travel to Canton South on Monday, Oct. 3; and return home for a matchup with Akron North on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
