Lady Cardinals are 12th at postseason tourney

The Sandy Valley girls golf team defeated Claymont on a fifth scorecard tie breaker at Big Bend Golf Course.

The teams were tied at 204 after the first four scores were added up. Forced to go to the fifth score, Bella Woodin's 56 bested Claymont by four strokes.

Lexi Woodin paced the winners with a 47. Dakota Abbott had a 50, Halley DeOrio had a 52 and Natalie Owens had a 55.

Sandy Valley lost to Indian Valley 193-184 in a match played at Green Valley Golf Course.

L. Woodin and B. Woodin each had 46s, Shortt had a 48 and Abbott had a 53.

The Lady Cardinals shot a 247 in a triangular at the Legends Golf Course. Marlington carded a 193, and Perry had a 197.

B. Woodin had a 50, L. Woodin had a 53, Abbott had a 71, Owens and DeOrio had 73s, and Grace Crilley had a 74.

Sandy Valley finished 12th out of 20 teams at the Tri-County Post Season Tournament.

L. Woodin had her best 18 holes of the season worth an 89, earning second-team honors.

B. Woodin had a 106, Abbott had a 107, Shortt had a 108, and Crilley and Owens each had 121s.

The Lady Cardinals were to battle Dover and Indian Valley on Sept. 26; and compete in the Division II East Sectional Tournament on Sept. 28.
