Lady Cardinals spikers survive busy week

The Lady Cardinals had a busy week on the volleyball court, playing five matches in six days.

Sandy Valley battled Strasburg to start the stretch, falling in four games 17-25, 26-24, 25-13, 25-12.

Alyssa Sines had 21 assists, 12 digs and four kills; Courtney Snyder had 22 digs; Kaitlynn Steele had eight kills and six digs; Karlee Altimore had five kills and four assists; Addie Kirkbride had seven digs and five kills; and Baylee Offenberger had six kills.

A day later, the girls were beaten by Hiland 25-13, 25-15, 27-25.

Sines had 12 assists and five points, Snyder had 10 digs, and Offenberger had five kills.

It took five sets to decide the match against Ridgewood, with the Lady Generals prevailing 25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 15-25, 15-9.

Altimore had seven kills and four assists, Srock had seven kills, Kirkbride had five kills, Alexis Zehnder had 14 digs, and Sines had 24 assists and 10 digs.

This past Saturday, the girls lost to both Minerva and Tusky Valley.

The Lady Lions prevailed 25-13, 25-21. Sines had 10 assists, Kaitlynn Steele had two points and two kills, Kirkbride had three points and two kills, and Altimore had three kills.

The Lady Cardinals were beaten by Tusky Valley 25-11, 25-6.

Snyder had 10 digs, Sines had 12 assists and two digs, Kirkbride had three kills, and Altimore had two kills.

The Lady Cardinals will travel to Tusky Central today (Sept. 22), before hosting Newcomerstown on Monday, Sept. 26; and Malvern on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
