Lady Hornets continue to dominate opponents

Natalie Spitale recorded 27 kills in leading East Canton past Sandy Valley 28-26, 26-24, 17-25, 25-19.

Spitale also had 13 points, four aces, 11 digs and three blocks.

Kylee Holland had 16 kills and 11 points; Audri Nichols had 46 assists and 11 points; Maggie Geis had seven blocks, seven points and three kills; Trustyn Holland-Kerekes had 24 digs; and Laurelyn Schmidt had six blocks.

A day later, the girls improved to 6-2 with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-9 win against Conotton Valley.

Holland had 23 points, nine aces and four kills; Maddie Hill had nine points and four aces; Nichols had 21 assists and 11 points; Spitale had 11 kills, six points and three blocks; Geis had four kills and two blocks; and Schmidt had three blocks and two kills.

"The girls have played well through eight games, and as a coach, that is what makes it fun, to see the improvement," commented Head Coach Dan Pennell. "Now the tough time will come with working on breaking some bad habits and to keep working in practice on their strengths, as we get into some tough league matches."

The Lady Hornets were to face Ridgewood on Sept. 12 and Tusky Central on Sept. 13, before traveling to Garaway today (Sept. 15). The girls will host Malvern on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
