Sports Time Machine to feature North Canton wrestling series

The North Canton Hoover Vikings special edition programming continues on WHBC's The Sports Time Machine radio show and has lined up some of the best in Hoover wrestling for its upcoming show.

The great coach Walt Tolarchyk joins host Larry Hackenberg to discuss his career at North Canton Hoover High School. Joining Tolarchyk in the studio will be 1982 state champions John Bennett and CJ Mears.

Tolarchyk retired as head wrestling coach from Hoover High in 1993 after an amazing career of 27 years. He is a member of the Ohio High School Hall of Fame and was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Ohio Chapter. He one of wrestling's great coaches and is credited with making Hoover Wrestling into a wrestling power.

Joining Tolarchyk in the studio will be 1982 state champions John Bennett and CJ Mears. He is a 2016 inductee into the Hoover High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

When asked to comment on his team members Bennett and Mears, Tolarchyk said, "John Bennett and CJ Mears are both State Champions for Hoover. They were outstanding students, outstanding on their teams and outstanding leaders. Truly, truly outstanding men."

The North Canton Hoover Wrestling show will air on WHBC 1480 AM on Saturday, Sept 10 at 11 a.m. on The Sports Time Machine radio show as part of the North Canton Vikings special edition program.

The series will air on Sept 10, 17, and 24. The popular radio show is now in its seventh year with host Larry Hackenberg as he interviews coaches and athletes to bring their stories to life.
