East Canton Head Coach Lee Sternberg has five lettermen back from last year's boys cross country team which won the Inter-Valley Conference.

Back are juniors Josh Conrad, Tony Cappillo and Jake Bellamy; and sophomores Kyeem Newell-Owens and Colt Hemphill.

Conrad is the defending IVC individual champion. He earned All-Ohio honors by placing 20th at the 2015 state championships.

Cappillo had a solid sophomore campaign, and was selected to the IVC second team.

Also being looked upon to contribute are Demetrius Snellenberger, Mason Cain, Gabe Jones, Aaron Heavlin and Jacob Waters.

"Four out of our top five have regional experience and know what it's like to run in prime time," commented Coach Sternberg. "Their cohesiveness in getting along will help.

"We will need to find a consistent fifth man and create some team depth.

"We want to be at our best at the end of the season. We will also need to stay away from injuries. If the team continues to work hard, we should achieve our goals. Garaway will again be the team to beat as they return most of their team from last fall."
