North Industry Christian Church will offer a fall girls fast pitch softball league.

The league is for girls ages 12-18. Divisions will be 18U and 14U.

The season will run from mid-August through mid-October. Games will be played on Saturdays.

The deadline to register for the league is Aug. 31.

The 14th annual Republic Services of Ohio Golf Outing will benefit the Helping Hands food pantry to help alleviate hunger in the valley.

The golf outing will be held Thursday, Aug. 25, at Spring Valley Golf Course with a shot gun start at 9 a.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

D.J. Wilson has began his season within the Chicago Cubs organization. Wilson, is playing with the the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League in Class A Short Season.

Through 15 games, he was hitting .180 with a triple, a homerun and four runs batted in, according to the Emeralds' website.

A 2015 graduate of Canton South High School, Wilson was the Division II player of the year in the state last year helping the Wildcats to a regional final berth.

He was selected by the Cubs in the fourth round of last year's Major League Baseball amateur draft.


The Louisville YMCA will offer a "Peace-Love-Gymnastics" camp July 11-13.

The camp is for children ages 3-5 and 6-8.

The schedule for each day is warmup music and events from 9-11 a.m., dance skills from 11-11:30 a.m., a snack and craft from 11:30 to 12:15 p.m., and learning a dance and closing from 12:15-12:30 p.m.
