The East Canton Wizards fell at Mogadore last week, 45-34, and at home on Saturday to Tuslaw, 34-20, on senior day.

During Wednesday's game, the Lady Wildcats assumed a 15-10 lead after one quarter and slowly built on it through the game. Megan Gothard paced East Canton with 13 points, with a pair of treys, and she added nine rebounds. Kelsea McCullough also hit a trey and finished with seven points. Hannah Butler added five assists.

The Wizards honored their four seniors and their parents before the game on Saturday. The senior Wizards included Hannah Butler, Tara Clapper, Brianna Payne and Kelcie Wellendorf. The four started the game and all four played regularly.

The Mustangs threatened to dominate the contest. The built leads of 13-4, 19-8 and 29-8 by the end of the third quarter.

The Wizards then threw a real scare into the visitors. Held in check by exorbitant numbers of turnovers and cold shooting, their offense suddenly clicked in that final stanza.

It began with Wellendorf hitting a trey. McCullough followed with a basket and then Payne nailed a fielder. Gothard got into the act with a trey and Clapper scored off a nice feed from Butler.

The Lady Mustangs suddenly were holding on to an 11-point lead and called timeout. The Wizards went scoreless the rest of the way and Tuslaw went home a winner.

Payne led East Canton with six markers and five rebounds. Clapper had four points and four rebounds. Freshman Sarah Griesen added seven rebounds.

The Wizards began tournament play on Tuesday at Norwayne against Kidron Central Christian
