South heads into postseason with win

The Canton South wrestling squad ended their regular season on Thursday night (Feb. 7) when they hosted the Salem Quakers in their final NBC dual.

When the final match was over for the evening, the Wildcats downed the Quakers by the final of 49-20.

Securing wins for the Cats were Dominic Stout (113 pound, forfeit), Ryan Lambert (120 pound, forfeit), Sam Johnson (126 pound, forfeit), DJ Schoeppner (132 pound, pin in 2:44), Walker Catlett (138 pound, major decision 10-1), Dylan Dolph (145 pound, pin in 5:53), Austin Ness (152 pound, pin in 0:27), Chris Stewart (220 pound, pin in 0:19) and Zaire Daniels (285 pound, decision 10-6).

The Wildcats end the season with a dual record of 9-6.

The Cats will now turn their attention to the sectional tournament which is set to begin this Friday (Feb. 15) and Saturday (Feb. 16) at Northwest High School. The District Tournament will be the following weekend on Feb. 22 and 23 at Alliance.
