The Canton South wrestlers took to the mats twice this past week as they first traveled to Carrollton on Jan. 31 for a NBC dual with the Warriors before returning home to Faircrest Middle School to host the Bill Hall Classic on Feb. 2.
In the week opener at Carrollton, the Warriors dominated the Wildcats and defended their home floor by taking a 50-18 win against Canton South.
Posting wins for the Wildcats in the match were D.J. Schoeppner (126 pounds), Walker Catlett (132 pounds), Dylan Dolph and Jake Taylor (285 pounds).
Schoeppner and Taylor each won by pin while Catlett won by an 8-2 decision while Dolph held off his opponent by the count of 6-5.
The Wildcats won all three of their duals on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Bill Hall Classic and now stand at 8-6 overall for the season.
South defeated Akron Buchtel by the tally of 51-21, Central Catholic by the final of 63-18 and the Malvern Hornets by the final of 75-6.
The Canton South wrestlers will end their regular season tonight (Feb. 7) when they host the Salem Quakers in their final NBC dual of the season. Wrestling is set to commence at 7:30 p.m at Faircrest Middle School and will also mark Senior Night for the Cats..
The Cats will then look to the sectional meet which will be held on Feb. 15-16 at Northwest High School in Canal Fulton. Wrestling will begin at 6 p.m. on Feb. 15. and will resume on Feb. 16 at 9:30 a.m.
The top four wrestlers from each weight class will move on to the district tournament, which will take place on Feb. 23 at Alliance High School.
