The East Canton Wizards split a pair of non-league games on the road last week. They fell at Tusky Valley on Wednesday 65-29 but came back to gain a 48-38 win on Saturday at Lake Center.

At Tusky Valley, the Wizards trailed 12-6 after a stanza but fell victim to a 22-4 second quarter barrage by the Lady Trojans. Hannah Butler led East Canton with 11 markers including the team's only trey. Brianna Payne led the team with six rebounds and added eight points.

At Lake Center, East Canton trailed 11-8 after the first quarter but rallied for the win, outscoring the hosts 40-27 over the final three quarters.

Sophomore Megan Gothard was high scorer with 15 points. Butler added nine with another trey; Kaitlyn McCullough also notched a trey. Payne powered her way to 16 boards to go with six points.

East Canton is now 2-1 on the young campaign.

"From both games, we've learned players need to step-up early and start being aggressive on both the offensive and defensive ends. We still have a lot of things to work on," said head coach Jen Martinez.

The Wizards had a home game scheduled against Garfield on Wednesday and are scheduled to travel to Rootstown this Saturday.
