Canton South wrestlers place second in Wildcat Duals

The Wildcat wrestlers opened up their 2012-2013 season this past Saturday (Dec. 1) when they hosted the Wildcat duals at Faircrest Middle School. The Cats placed second overall in the meet trailing Jackson, the team winner.

D.J. Schoeppner, who is coming off a great 2011-2012 season a year ago picked up where he left off and took home the 126 pound title by defeating Jackson's Justyn Bostic by decision. Schoeppner was also named the Most Valuable Wrestler for the meet.

Coming in second place in their respective weight classes were Ryan Lambert (120 lb.), Walker Catlett (132 lb), Dylan Dolph (138 lb.) and Austin Ness (145 lb.)

Finishing in third place for the Wildcats was Zaire Daniels in the 285 pound weight class. Teammate Jake Taylor took fourth place in the same weight class.

Also placing fourth for the Wildcats were Jacob Tucke (106 lb.), Jamie Herron (160 lb.), Jan Almasy (170 lb.) and John Haslem (182 lb.)

The Wildcat wrestlers are back in action today (Dec. 6) when they host the Marlington Dukes in a NBC showdown. South will then host Alliance on Dec. 13. Both home matches are set to begin at 7:30 p.m. and will take place at Faircrest Middle School.
