Cardinal football team earns honors

Sandy Valley football player Sam Groff was honored as the MVP for the 2012 Cardinal football season.

Groff set an individual school record for the longest interception return for a touchdown when he took the ball 77 yards in a game against Strasburg. He was also a four-year letter winner for the Cardinals.

Other team members who set individual school records during the 2012 season were Jacob Wagner for most consecutive extra-point kicks (14), most extra points in one season (29), most goals in one season (4) and highest kickoff yardage (42.25); and Zach Schlimm for most punting attempts in one game (9) and most punting yards in one game (322).
