Kaleb Smith is the son of Greg and Tammy (Kail) Smith of Mansfield and the Grandson of Gary and Janet Kail of Magnolia. Gary coaches softball for the Sandy Valley Cardinals.

During the recent fall sports season, K. Smith, a freshman, participated in the golf program at Lexington High School, located in Richland County near Mansfield. Throughout the season, Smith maintained the third spot on the Varsity squad and led the Lexington Minutemen to the Ohio Cardinal Conference Championship at Mohican Hills Golf Club on Sept. 20, beating normal OCC powerhouse Ashland.

In addition, Smith's performance in the OCC Tournament was good enough to capture First Team all-OCC in just his first season on the Minutemen golf team, as well as, his first ever Varsity Letter.

The next weekend, Lexington participated in the District Tournament which ended their season as no golfer qualified for the next round of play.

"We are very proud of him," said grandparents and Magnolia residents, Gary and Janet Kail on his 2012 golfing season.
