HEBRON -- On a cloudy, chilly Saturday Morning at National Trail Raceway, Sandy Valley Cross Country runner Ben Lehotay competed in the Division II State Cross Country Meet.

With snow still on parts of the race track from "Superstorm Sandy," Lehotay went out and finished with a time of 16:11.39, good enough for 15th place overall out of the field of 150 runners. Furthermore, Lehotay captured a Sandy Valley school record as that was the fastest time ever for a 5K cross country race.

"Ben ran a very smart race. He was in 19th position at the mile and 21st at the 2 mile. He looked strong the entire race and passed just enough people to become first team all ohio," said Head Coach Justin Baum on his senior runner.

With the finish, Lehotay captured All-Ohio honors in Cross Country for the 2012 season and a spot on the podium, as well as, capturing Academic All-Ohio honors for his outstanding work in the classroom maintaining a G.P.A of at least 3.5 while participating in high school athletics.

"It was a great end to his senior season." said Baum oh Lehotay.
