MASSILLON -- Canton South's girls basketball team will have faced a familiar foe this week.
South blew away Revere 65-19 last week and advanced to this week's district semifinal. The win enabled Canton South to play a rematch against Akron St. Vincent St. Mary. In last year's district final, South beat the Irish 64-40.
A win over St. Vincent St. Mary would propel Canton South to Saturday's district final.
Head coach Kevin Meers said he was not concerned about the Irish looking for revenge.
"I'm prepared for a good St. Vincent St. Mary team," Meers said. "We both do the same things well and we'll see what happens."
South had no problem putting away Revere in its sectional final game last Wek. The Lady Cats used their pressure defense to create numerous fast break opportunities and held a 41-10 halftime lead.
Senior Shavon Robinson was the anchor for South's offense as she poured in 24 of her game-high 30 points in the first half.
Revere was held to one field goal in the second half and scored just four field goals in the game.
In addition to Robinson, senior Alivia Greene was also in double-figures for Canton South and finished the game with 10 points.
