The East Canton boys basketball team remains undefeated with their latest victory over Heritage Christian by the score of 75-53.
The Hornets jumped out to an early and convincing lead. After one period, they were ahead 26-4. At halftime, the score was 49-17. Going into the final eight minutes, East Canton led 65-30.
East Canton shot 57 percent from the floor, and of those field goals, they shot an impressive 73 percent of their two point shots, and 41 percent from behind the arc. Ryan Burfield led all Hornet scorers with 23 points. Also in double digits for the night were Josh Smith with 13, Zell Bradley with 11 and Joe Cartwright with 10 points.
As a team, the Hornets grabbed 35 rebounds, had 18 steals and 20 assists. Leading rebounder for East Canton was Smith with nine. Stuart Campbell and Bradley each had seven grabs. Burfield led in the steals department with six takeaways. Bradley had five assists.
The junior varsity team took care of business as well, defeating Heritage 56-11.
With this win, East Canton improves to 6-0. They will have traveled to Mogadore by press time for a Tuesday, Jan. 5 game, and then will host James A. Garfield on Friday, Jan. 8.
