Kent State University recently conferred degrees to spring graduates during commencement exercises on May 14 in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center on the Kent Campus.
The following local students received diplomas:
Canton: Joseph Carbenia, Thomas Eynon, Olivia Keck, Crystal Russell, Ashia Salyers, Mackenzie Vega, Heather White and Alexander Wise.
East Canton: Erica Mayle, Zachary Pittman, Joshua Ryder, Christopher Sahli, and Alyssa Walpole.
East Sparta: Anthony Davis, Rebecca Finley, Danielle Grooms, Sam Knox, Candys Rock, Chad Roush and Lucille Thompson.
Magnolia: Lauren Hunter, Megan Hunter, Hunter Immel, Ashley Kandis, Stephen Mitcham, Briana Schubert and Leah Wilson.
Mineral City: Logan Harper, Tonya Tullos, Dylan Walker and Cody Whitehair.
Waynesburg: Cassandra Muller, Margaret Pikna and Benjamin Welker.
More than 2,580 students earned degrees during the University of Akron's spring 2016 commencement ceremonies. In all, the 3,031 candidates from 35 states and 17 countries earned 40 doctoral degrees, 92 juris doctor degrees, 675 master's degrees, 894 bachelor's degrees and 330 associate degrees.
