The Helping Hands Network in Waynesburg is preparing for the upcoming school year and is seeking donations of supplies.
Last year the network provided supplies to 143 children. It anticipates somewhat higher numbers this year as the network is experiencing a 33 percent increase in numbers through the first six months of 2016.
School supplies may be dropped off at Helping Hands any Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. In order to prepare the supplies for distribution, have them to Helping Hands Network by Aug. 9.
Helping Hands is also in need of volunteers to pack school supply bags on Aug. 11 starting at 9 a.m.
Items needed include book bags, 8-ounce Elmer's school glue, glue sticks, Kleenex, plastic school boxes, crayola water colors, two pocket folders (red, yellow, blue or green), yellow highlighters, Fiskar type school scissors, large pink erasers, zipper pencil pouch, wide-ruled loose leaf paper, college ruled loose leaf paper, unlined index cards, 12-pack crayola colored pencils, wide ruled spiral bound 1 subject notebooks (red, yellow, blue, green), college ruled spiral bound 1 subject notebooks, cap erasers, hand-held pencil sharpeners and brown paper grocery bags.
