Many Faircrest Memorial Middle School students from Amy Eibel's art class were honored for their extraordinary artwork at the regional Scholastic Art Awards Competition at Kent State University Stark Campus.
This is a professionally juried competition for students in grades 7 through 12 from Summit, Stark, Wayne, Medina, Portage and Tuscarawas counties.
Wildcat artists winning a Gold Key include Shanice Agyekum, Micah Barnes, Hannah Loury, Celeste Lyndaker, Kent Ring, Cheyenne Spreainde, Kaitlyn Unklesbay and Madison Zaleski. Artists winning a Silver Key include Callie Morris (with two), Zienna Myers (with two), Brooke Noll, Kent Ring and Destiny Young. Those earning an honorable mention were Darian Bobish (with three), Samuel Burnside, Emoni Collington, Grace Curtician, Alex Faiello, Hope Hein, Robbie Leahy, Callie Morris (with two), Samantha Nichols (with four), Brooke Noll (with two), Kaitlyn Schank, and Faith Wickham.
Over 3400 art pieces competed for a select few Gold Key (first place), Silver Key (second place) and Honorable Metion awards. Students winning a Gold or Silver Keys were honored at an awards ceremony at the Kent State University Stark Conference Center on Jan. 26.
Artwork winning a gold or silver key will be displayed in an exhibition at Kent State University Stark Campus in the Campus Center and Fine Arts Buildings from Jan. 20- 31. The show is free and open to the public.
