CANTON TWP. -- John Martin was voted president of the Canton Local Board of Education on Monday night, during a reorganizational meeting. John Mariol will serve as the vice president.
The board also voted to change the time of the board meetings from 7:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The board will continue to meet on the second Monday of each month, except for three months, July, October and November, in 2013.
The schedule is as follows:
Jan. 14 - Administrative Center
Feb. 11-- Administrative Center
March 11-- Canton South High School
April 8-- Faircrest Middle School
May 13-- Administrative Center
June 10-- Administrative Center
July 15-- Administrative Center
Aug. 12-- Administrative Center
Sept. 9-- Administrative Center
Oct. 7-- Administrative Center
Nov. 18-- Walker Elementary
Dec. 9-- Administrative Center.
The board also approved a number of resolutions for the day-to-day governance of the schools.
The board approved the agenda format for the 2013 meetings with no changes made.
Approved committee appointees of board members as follows:
Athletic Representatives - Scott Hamilton and Martin;
Career Technical - David Brothers
Loan Foundation - Brothers
Legislative Liaison - Mariol
Student Dress Code - Craig Strasser and Martin
Ohio School Board Association delegate - Brothers
Campaign representative - Brothers and Martin.
