Walker students vote for chocolate chip cookies

Published:

Lia Leahy and Sharon Smith's first-grade classrooms at Walker Elementary read and discussed books about voting. Teachers stressed that voting is a fair way to make a group decision. On election day they gave the students a ballot with the choice of a snack for the day. Students were given a hole puncher to make their choice on the ballot inside the ballot box. After counting all the ballots, chocolate chip cookies won by a land side. Shown by the ballot box are Jeffrey Miller, Sydney Comer and Melanie Bailey.
