Sandy Valley Middle School recently announced its new program called "Operation Backpack."
With this program, the will be able to help provide food for families in need during the weekends. The intent is to send home nonperishable items that will help provide meals over the weekend. Students will receive a backpack to take home with the nonperishable items on Friday and they return the empty backpack on Monday.
School officials are asking for help to get this program up and running. Each month an opportunity will be provided for the residents in the area to donate nonperishable donations in order to stock the food pantry and help feed the families represented in the middle school. Monetary donations to buy items will also be accepted.
