Walker students do pumpkin math

Published:

Have you ever wondered just how many seeds are inside of a pumpkin?

Walker Elementary students discovered the answer to that question and others during the month of October.

Shown are first-grader, Logan Zeby and Reese Harris, grade four.

Thanks to the donation of over 100 pumpkins by a local farmer, various classrooms had the opportunity to explore mathematical concepts such as number sense, weight and estimation. Walker Elementary students worked across grade levels in this collaborative effort to explore the traditional symbol of the Autumn harvest.
