Making creative and exciting art projects motivates students to learn and apply math knowledge.
Under the direction of Walker Elementary Art teacher, Terri Bradshaw, third graders are applying geometry concepts to make colorful paper snowflakes using geometric shapes, angles, symmetry and radial symmetry.
Fourth graders are creating tessellations which are patterns of shapes that fit together similar to a puzzle. The students used tessellation concepts to create their own organic shapes and colorful artistic designs.
Alanah Johnson, fourth-grade student in Dan Lawver's homeroom, smiles as she shows her creation.
