Leila Malavite, who completed eighth-grade at Sandy Valley Junior High, was the recipient of the annual Lori Sickafoose Award at the end of the 2008-09 school year.
All eighth-grade students are eligible for this award, which is named for the late Lori Sickafoose, who displayed a positive and friendly attitude as a student in the district, despite having many physical and health difficulties in her short life.
