A 2nd Dance Dress drive is collecting prom dresses

By TESA STRASSE The Press-News Published:

"Every girl should have the chance to feel beautiful." Those are the words of Canton South High School senior, Olivia Sessions.

That belief was the impetus for the creation of A 2nd Dance Dress Drive, part of the Gracefully Worn Clothing Outreach of Bridge Point.

In this trying economy, it can be very difficult for families to afford the luxury of a prom dress for high school age daughters. Knowing many families have beautiful, gowns and short formal dresses hanging in their closets, Sessions is encouraging donations of dresses so they can be given Canton Local students at no charge.

Now through March 8, clean dresses in excellent condition can be donated at 3405 Cleveland Ave. S, rear, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Call for Saturday drop off times.

The ministry is also collecting dress pants, shirts, ties, and shoes for young men in the area to wear for prom and graduation.

To receive assistance, Canton Local families can stop at the Bridge Point office and complete an application. Upon approval, appointments will be scheduled to choose a dress for Saturday, March 23 and Monday, March 25.
