• On Saturday, Dec. 1, B & B Surplus, in East Canton, will hold a secret Santa Shopping Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• North Industry United Methodist Church on Faircrest Street will hold Christmas Crafts for Kids on Dec. 2, 2-4 p.m. There will be activities, refreshments and the opportunity to visit with Santa Claus.

• The East Sparta annual tree lighting is Sunday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. Santa will arrive to hear all kids, regardless of age, wish list. Christmas carols will be sung. The tree will be lit. Both the East Sparta Christian Church and the East Sparta Methodist Church pastors will lead a short program to remind us the reason for the season. Christmas crafts for kids will be available from the SV District Library. Cookies and hot chocolate/coffee will be available. Come and join us usher in the Christmas season in our village. This annual event is sponsored by the East Sparta Women's Club.

• On Dec. 2, from 2-4 p.m., area businesses and the Foltz Community Center will sponsor the 17th annual children's Christmas party at the Foltz Center in East Canton. This event is free for children ages 12 and under that live in the East Canton/ Osnaburg Township area. During the party, the children will play games, make a craft, have a snack and visit Santa. Face painting will also be available.

Parents must pre-register and accompany their children. Students will bring home registration forms from school the week of Nov. 12. Return forms to the community center, not the school. Registration forms can also be picked up at the center's office. Deadline for registration is Nov. 29.

Children are encouraged to bring a box of crayons, a game, coloring book or small toy to be shared with a local children's facility. Items needed are for children age infant to 18 years.
