Weavers celebrate 90th reunion

Published:

The descendants of David and Sarah (Kinright) Weaver held the 90th reunion at one of the original sited from years past and is now the home of Chris and Stacey Fallot. A total of 75 relatives joined together in fellowship, as Stewart Unkefer offered the invocation before they had a buffet of covered dishes.

After years of work and dedication, Susanna Pugh gave the presentation of the book, "A Tapestry of the David Weaver Family 1800-2010." Susanna thanked everyone who helped in making this come together and asked everyone keep collecting information and pictures for volume two. Those who had placed orders were delighted with the outcome and additional copies will be donated to local genealogy societies and libraries. David and Sarah Weaver are both buried in the Magnolia Cemetery.

President Doris Garster thanked Chris and Stacey for hosting the reunion, and they agreed everyone is welcome to come back next year. It was unanimous that officers remain the same for the coming year. Doris Garster will be president, Betty Fallot will serve as secretary-treasurer and the Fallot families will remain on the planning committee. Susanna Pugh will continue to be the historian.

Stacey Fallot offered to make a quilt for next year's reunion with the help of all the relatives. Each family was asked to bring or mail a piece of fabric that will represent their family and interests. The quilt will be completed and raffled off at the next reunion. A wide variety of fabric has already been received The annual white elephant items were auctioned off by Bob Fallot and John Rodriques. The auction brings in funds for expenses for the next reunion along with bringing a lot of laughter. The children enjoyed pedal tractor rides, fishing, and selecting something from the gift basket.

Prizes were awarded as follows: the first reservation received, Stewart and Bertha Unkefer, the first time attendee, Trish Dermer, person attending the most Weaver reunions, Irene Rowlance, the family with the most brothers and sisters present, the Betz family with Doris Garster, Marilyn Rugani, Edgar Betz, and Irene Rowlance.

Also recognized were two families that both had four generations represented. They were Shirley Seeman, her daughter Kathy, her son, Jason and his daughter, Abby. Also recognized was the oldest to attend, Mabel Weaver Halter was there with Connie Weaver, her son, Eric, and his children, Ben and Katie. Don and Trish Dermer came the farthest this year from Medina. Many of the Weavers traveled to Vermont this year to celebrate Dr. Howard Weaver's 70th birthday.

The afternoon was complete with homemade ice cream and hay rides for everyone as they toured the farm with Chris Fallot sitting proudly on his 1952 Super M Farmall tractor that had recently been restored. Everyone was reminded to mark their calendar for Aug. 7, 2011, for the next reunion.
