Dogs and handlers sought

Published:

Volunteers are needed for the Goodwill Industries' Dog Enhancing Children's Reading program.

They may be known as "Man's best friend" but to the children of Goodwill's S.P.E.A.K. Program dogs are their friendly, unintimidating and cuddly listeners. S.P.E.A.K. stands for special pups enhancing the abilities of kids.

This program is a volunteer driven initiative, pairing elementary school children who are having difficulty reading aloud with a non-threatening audience to read to, a dog.

The Goodwill is looking for dogs and their handlers to participate two times each month. S.P.E.A.K. is active in several Canton City and Canton Local Elementary Schools. For more information call 330-455-1032.
